About a Week Later

Strap yourself in. There's a lot of stuff in this one.

Here we have my pre order for the Jane Doe reissue from Deathwish. Everything looks very cool and as long as the wait was, I think its safe to say it was worth it. On the left is the big booklet that comes with each copy. The thing is pretty true to the original style of the release, just taken a step further. I was surprised at how simple and straight-forward most of this was. I thought with as much hype as this reissue got naturally, there would be some more baggage per se. Here we have the two most common versions, as it seems I didn't luck out on getting a rarer one. White is out of 2,000 and red out of 1,305. Pretty nuts that they put out 5,000 copies of these, but I guess that makes sense. The reason why I lined up the records the way I did is that the sides of the labels for this double release are J.A.N.E. So as lame as I am I had to lay them out to spell it.

Here we have the fourth press of The Things We Carry. I've wanted to get a copy of this for a little while now, and since I didn't want to pay like $40 for a copy, this worked out for me. I was a little disappointed with how this turned out. Would've been nice to be a gatefold, apparently the third press wasn't either.

Here we have another pre order from Six Feet Under. First is the second press of the Kingston 7", defiantly better colors of vinyl this time around, I'm happy. Also I ordered three copies of The Rival Mob 7", though I got two copies of purple, I'm guessing that the black just sold out that fast. No worries I think I'll be able to trade/sell my extra on purple, as this is already sold out and Dave ordered a second press. 1,500 records gone that fast, impressive. This band is defiantly getting a lot of attention. I'll get to an example of that later.

Here we have another record that I probably didn't really need, but I figured why not. This is a plain version of Down to Nothing's Splitting Headache. By plain I mean, there's no special stamps, like all the other ones I own. This is blank and supposedly out of 225. Not sure, no idea what the full pressing info is on this one.

So I ended up getting an extra copy of ON record that I already had, by accident. So I ended up making a trade with it pretty quick. Here is what I got in return, this is a copy of Go It Alone's Histories with the European tour stamp on it. Pretty nice accidental opportunity. I traded this with clichejon, and the funny thing about this is that it was supposed to go to Seb of Just Another Day Records, from Mark of GIA, but I suppose Seb never got this. He wrote a note on the dust sleeve.

Another funny thing about this trade was that Jon included a copy of De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising, which just made my package. I actually just got it out and put it on the turntable, that's how stoked I am about it. Not to mention there was this like stupid dance DJ LP that was all marked all over it to use as a mailer, because well that's all its good for. Apparently it was meant to be an international exchange mailer. As it started with L.O.James and then went to Jon in the UK, and now to me. The reason why this is even funnier is that James lives in the D.C. area, as do I. So really it just came back to pretty much the same place it started. Anyway, I'll send this out with whoever I next send a record out of the country to.

Here we have my Common Cause pre order from React! This has got to be the best looking React release yet.

The cover is just awesome with the glossy gold accent all over it and as usual the fold out insert is stellar.

The mailer is awesome, I actually want a shirt with this design. I NEED a copy of this on gold from the showcase. So if you got one please get at me. Aram just out-does himself all the time.

This is a copy of the 7" of the same record that I just so happened to get at the same time by chance. As you can see this version is also very cool with the silver accent, but the React version is the winner.

Here is two copies of Police & Thieves' Amor y Guerra from Youngblood. The top copy on green is out of 300, the bottom copy is the Youngblood 08 Showcase version stamped and numbered out of 150. Two nice pick ups around my area, one at a show and the other at a record store.

That's all I can fit in the labels for one post, so you'll just have to wait for the rest. There's plenty more to go.

Celebrated Summer Score

So I was up in Towson, MD visiting some friends and I heard about this place called Celebrated Summer. It's in the back of this comic shop, and its this little room maybe like 12 feet by 10 feet and its full of stuff. So I spent about an hour and a half going through this guys collection of vinyl. I could have easily spent over $200, but I resisted, mostly due to funds. The shop is run by this really awesome dude, Tony, who is in a band called Deep Sleep. Dude had a fantastic store, I'd say the best one I've ever been to. Tons of OOP and hard stuff to find. So the following is what I picked up.

First is the Go It Alone - Histories 7". I believe this is the first press limited to 875. This came out to promote the LP.

Next up is the Harms Way - Imprisoned 7" put out by Organized Crime. This is the most limited version, with 167 copies. This was probably the best deal for what I paid for.

This is the Prayer for Cleansing - The Tragedy 7" on blue with white splatter. I believe its the 2nd press limited to 380 copies. Very cool looking and the packaging is top notch. This is my second copy of this. Members of this band went on to form Between the Buried and Me.

I had been wanting to get a copy of this, so it was a no brainer. This is the Fired Up - When the Lights Go Out 7" on red 2nd press limited to 300 copies. I wish I coulda picked up the new 7" also put out on Youngblood. Will have to look for that in the future.

I saw the Mindset - Real Power 7" and went through each copy to make sure Tony didn't have a copy I didn't have. I found this one on White from the 1st press limited to 300 copies. Pretty nice score, especially since this is a band from Baltimore, I would have thought that this would have been snatched up already.

This in my mind was the best part of the purchase. Floorpunch - Twin Killing I believe limited to 1,700, but awesome and not easy to find none-the-less. This is the Division One Champs 7" and Goal Line Stand 7" released together on Equal Vision.

All in all, this was a really good pick-up, and hard to resist despite the fact that financially I probably shouldn't have bought anything, but whatever, I'm not in Towson often. I even had to turn down some nice Champion records, a dude had just dropped off some of his collection that day. What makes it even more easy to stomach is that I got all of these for $40 all together, yeah that's a really good deal. So if you're in the Baltimore area, head over to Celebrated Summer, it's totally worth your time.

THIS IS HARDCORE

Had an awesome time once again in the city of brotherly love. Some highlights included Floorpunch, Pulling Teeth and The Carrier. Also seeing how much bigger TUI and Cold World are than last year was kinda scary. The fest sold out this year and so many more kids were there. Rad. I'm a little bummed I missed Friday and the beginning of Saturday, but it was still worth it. Ok so I didn't spend as much as last year, and I showed some restraint actually. That being said I still picked up plenty of stuff. Here they are one by one.

First is the old True Colors LP I finally decided to pick up from Six Feet Under Records. This is the most common version, out of 355 copies. Solid band. I hope that Dave from SFU puts out the new LP. These guys need a permanent U.S. label. Currency exchange rates and shipping to the U.S. just make ordering from Powered so difficult. Read Mike's post about the newer LP here.

Ok, so I don't think I need to explain this one. Probably gonna be the biggest album in hardcore this year on Gold/Peach/Beer type color out of 200. Supposedly this was pressed for Sound & Fury and they just had copies left over.

This is one I was really happy to find at the Deathwish table. This is the blue multi-splatter limited to like 150 or something like that. This is just an amazing looking vinyl, once I saw it I knew I needed to have it. Check out my other post on the record release version of this vinyl here.

This is a special version of the new Mother of Mercy record made specifically for TIH I believe. Limited to like 60 or something. Very cool screen-printed cover, though it is rather flimsy.

This is the The Carrier 7" release on Deathwish with a special cover for TIH. Mine's number 32/51. One of the highlights for me this weekend was being able to see this band. I highly recommend checking them out.

This is a recent release from SFU, a Japanese band called As We Let Go. Awesome hardcore along the lines of Guns Up! This is the orange limited to 209 copies.

Here's another recent SFU release. The new Foundation 7". This Atlanta straight-edge band is starting to get a lot of attention. This is a great release. This version is limited to 308 copies.

This is the Go It Alone/Blue Monday Split released on Rivalry. 2nd press, 1525 copies. Just wanted to have this. Nothing special.

This is The Effort 7" released on Hellfish. Not sure what the pressing info is on this one. Posted about in the past here.

This is the Forfeit 7" released by Reaper. I've been meaning to pick this up, it's been out for over a year now. I actually think they were out of them at last year's TIH, only had the CDs. CDs are rubbish. Anyway, great band you should already know about.

Here's another Reaper release, Naysayer 7" with a limited TIH cover. I posted about it before here.

Mine's numbered 43/50.

Another Pulling Teeth release. This is the split with Frightener released on A389. Pretty self-explanatory.

This is another SFU release. The Adult Crash book with the 7" on black, 926 copies.

Go It Alone/Reign Supreme Addition

First up is Go It Alone - Histories. This I believe is the first press, on white. Not really 100% sure even after reading the explanation on Rivalry's website, but the guy I bought it from seemed to think it was the 1st press too.

Go It Alone - Histories (White, 1st Press, 650 Copies)

Next up I traded my Trapped Under Ice Demo on Clear for the Red w/ Black Haze version of Reign Supreme's American Violence 7". I figured it was a decent trade, and it rounded out my Reign Supreme Collection more. Looking forward to the full length.

Reign Supreme – Fuck the Weak (Green, ? Copies)

Reign Supreme – Fuck the Weak (Green & White Split, ? Copies)

Reign Supreme – American Violence (Transparent Red, 1000 Copies)

Reign Supreme - American Violence (Red w/ Black Haze, 300 Copies)
